Rethinking Learning and Employment at a time of economic uncertainty: Open Workshop, Manchester, November 19th and 20th 2009

As the project approaches the end of its funding period, a number of events are being organised to show-case the project outcomes.

The TENCompetence Open Workshop, Manchester is co-located with the annual conference of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) and will take place on November 19th and 20th, 2009.

At a time of increasing economic insecurity and the emergence of a knowledge society comes the need for employees and individuals to continuously develop and extend their knowledge and skills set regardless of age, social status or situation.

 

Effective support for individual learners, teams and organizations in their pursuit of competence development is key to retaining a competitive edge. The TENCompetence project has responded to the need to facilitate professional lifelong learning and competence development through the design and development of an organizational and technical infrastructure.

Competence development: right now!

The rationale, implementation and use of the TENCompetence infrastructure formed the focus of a one-day event in Utrecht on Thursday, 23 April. This event was hosted by the SURF foundation and was the first of many major dissemination initiatives planned for 2009.

TENCompetence Winterschool 2009

On 1-6 February 2009 the third and last TENCompetence Winter School took place in an attractive winter resort near Innsbruck, Austria.

44 people from a range of countries including Canada and Russia took part in the event.

5th TENCompetence Open Workshop - Sofia 2008

The second of two open-workshops held in Sofia, this event set out to identify and analyse state-of-the-art research and technologies in the fields that provide the building blocks for the development of an open source competence development infrastructure.

Run over a two day period, the event included a total of fifteen presentations from TENCompetence partners, Associate Partners and interested parties from outside the project.
